For many years, the President of the United States and the Governor of Florida have declared the first week of March as SAVE YOUR VISION WEEK.
During this week the Miami Dade Optometric Physicians Association sponsors one or more projects to make children and adults more aware of the importance of eye health.
Various programs the MDOPA has sponsored are:
- Free Save your Vision bookmarks for all Miami-Dade public libraries
- Free Save your Vision bookmarks for all Miami-Dade public school libraries
- U.S. Postal Service mail cancellation with the Save Your Vision logo
- Save Your Vision poster contests in Miami-Dade elementary schools
- Poster displays in local grocery stores, pharmacies and doctors' offices
- Proclamations by city governments
- Newspaper stories and public radio announcements
